Routine and annual check-ups: During a routine checkup, the physician will ask questions about your period, sexual activity and perform a series of exams like breast exam, pelvic exam, and pap test.

Irregular periods and heavy bleeding: Painful periods and heavy bleeding are not normal symptoms of menstruation. Especially if they were regular and they have been getting worse over time. Abnormal periods can be a symptom of eating disorders, STIs, hormonal problems, or other medical conditions.

Unusual smell or discharge: The vagina does have a normal discharge, that keeps the genitals clean and healthy. Normal discharge is clear to white and odorless. When the discharge changes color or the odor is too strong maybe it’s a sign of vaginal infection.

Urinary: The incontinence can be a few drops of urine to completely emptying the bladder. This can be related to UTI, medications, pelvic floor disorders, or after childbirth.
